André Schmidt has had overall responsibility as President at Toyota Deutschland GmbH since January 2021. In 2018 he was transferred from Toyota Motor Europe (TME) to Toyota Motor North America to head TOYOTA’s Global Olympic / Paralympics Marketing. During his assignment in the USA, he also held management positions in the areas of online retailing, tier-2 marketing optimization and mobility strategies. Since 2015 he has been Director Marketing & Light Commercial Vehicle Business Unit at TME, where he pioneered a new Pan-EU agency model, launched the TOYOTA Gazoo Racing brand and restarted TOYOTA’s European light commercial vehicle business. In 2012 André Schmidt was appointed President and CEO of Toyota Sweden AB. In 2008 he took on the role of Marketing Director of Toyota Deutschland GmbH, his first role outside of TME. In 2005 he joined TME as General Manager Pricing & Revenue Management. His previous experience in the automotive industry includes 4 years at Mitsubishi Motors Europe and positions as a strategy consultant in the transport / automotive and Automotive / Mobility Researcher for the GfK Group. In his early career, André Schmidt experienced the automobile trade first hand by filling various functions in his parents’ Ford and BMW dealership. Born in Bad Kissinger, he is a trained banker and has successfully completed a degree in marketing, information technology and international business management at the University of Passau, Bavaria. He is married and has three children. In his spare time, he enjoys family life, running, skiing, hiking and playing tennis.
